SW Coast Path
Books and Maps

There are a number of guide books to choose from that cover the Coast Path going from Minehead to Poole. Remember, though, that guide books will go out-of-date surprisingly quickly and cross-references to the websites on the linked page are always worthwhile.
Paddy Dillon's Cicerone Guide to the South West Coast Path has the usual attention to detail typical of this meticulously thorough writer.
The South West Coast Path Association's Annual Guide is published each year in February. It contains the most comprehensive up-to-date accommodation details. It also offers at a small extra cost a 'reverse' guide for those, like us, who start at Poole.
Finally there are the 4 separate official guides produced by the National Trail organisation subdivided as follows Minehead - Padstow, Padstow - Falmouth, Falmouth - Exmouth and Exmouth - Poole.
One additional booklet we would recommend is an up-to-date tide timetable - essential in some places!

With a well-signposted path, the ever-present sea on one side and one of these guide books, 1:25000 maps almost seem a luxury - but we'd never be without them!
