Refuge du Plan-Mya* - converted old cheese-making barn : divided large room with dormitory, rest area and dining/kitchen area combined : quite small : excellent traditional food with family : great atmosphere
Refuge de la Balme Pierra Menta* - very friendly refuge : good atmosphere : excellent food : fine setting
Auberge le Valezan - more hotel / bar than gîte : very good common room area : good variety of different foods : interesting village
Refuge de Rosuel - gateway to Vanoise national park : quite large and rather impersonal but adequate
Refuge du Col du Palet - very good traditional high mountain refuge : stunning setting : cold showers : e-mail contact is annelaure.lombard@wanadoo.fr
Refuge de la Leisse - probably unlucky to hit this on a cold night when the warden had a large group of personal friends, but this was our one disappointment : excellent situation : cold showers
