Here are our personal comments on places to stay. We cannot stress highly enough what excellent quality and value we found almost all of the food and accommodation. In a few refuges you have to be prepared for dormitory accommodation but we often had a room to ourselves, inside loos ... and, usually, hot showers! We can only comment on places where we stayed - in some places there are alternatives!! Look in the guide book for further information. Apart from the refuge near Monviso early booking did not seem essential. We booked almost all accommodation online in advance - follow links to websites on the accommodation pages though not all of them use English! Wardens were always prepared to phone the next night's stay to confirm our booking. 'English speakers' often means one member of staff - that person may have moved on!
