The first visit to a developing country cannot fail to make a huge impact. Our slides aim to convey the wide range of experiences we encountered over more than 6 weeks in this beautiful country in the Himalayas.The richness of life in a country that ranks amongst the poorest in the world is surprising. For people with so little, there is remarkable resilience and such a warm welcome. Street scenes, village life, farming practices all evoke a way of life so different from our western world. The slides show the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, the wealth of artistic and religious artefacts and the central role of Hindu and Buddhist religions in both city and countryside. In addition we show photos from our two treks to the Langtang Valley and around the Annapurna Circuit, accompanied by our excellent guide and porter, Dandi and Tenzing, and culminating in a climb to over 5,400 metres to traverse Thorung-La.
