One of the joys of mountain-walking are the vast panoramas that open up as you progress. Each col traversed offers a new perspective whilst, at the same time, often retaining the distant view of a major peak such as Monviso or Rocciamelone.

Panoramic photos also give the opportunity to show the striking geological features of the various mountain massifs that we traversed - the Ligurian, Maritime, Cottian and, finally, Graian Alps.

What is missing from the photos, of course, are the passages of high altitude silence interrupted at times by the occasional bird call or the sounds of animal bells. Hopefully some of these pictures convey the imposing majesty and beauty of the scenery we passed through.
