Hopefully these photos will reflect the superb quality of the food and accommodation. The variety of choices on offer every evening and, on some occasions, for breakfast was excellent and portions always generous. Wine was often provided as well. Rooms were quite spacious apart from a few high mountain refuges and extremely comfortable. Despite some difficulties with language our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome and valued.

Given the small number of walkers it astonished us that so many of these refuges and alberghi remain open. On a number of occasions we were the only people staying overnight and/or eating. We sincerely hope that enough trekkers are attracted to the GTA to ensure the viability of the current accommodation.
