We sometimes find it difficult to avoid the magnetic pull of those French GRs but there are many other parts of Europe equally worthy of exploration.
The only pre-GR10 trip on this website was in 2004 when we spent a fortnight travelling around and walking in the unique country of Iceland - a place so many people wish they had visited ... and the most popular of our slideshow talks.

Having followed the well-known GR5 through the French Alps we discovered, by chance, a roughly parallel trail, the GTA, on the other side of the border in Italy. Setting off in June 2012 we found a little visited but incredibly beautiful region where close encounters with wildlife and history were frequent.
