Travelling beyond Europe came quite late in life to us ... and maybe allowed us to savour the challenges and wonders of the developing world even more. It has certainly made us very intolerant of those who moan about the quality of provision in our country and the western world in general.
We were lucky to have good friends undertaking VSO in Nepal who encouraged us to spend over 6 weeks based with them in 2008 and guided us to excellent provision for 2 independent treks high in the Himalayas. 6 years later in 2014 we returned to fulfil a long-time ambition - a trek to Everest Base Camp.
For our Ruby Wedding Anniversary we took up the challenge of an attempted climb of Kilimanjaro and enjoyed the wild-life experiences of a 4-day safari in Tanzania.
