Photos - Days 31 - 35 Couflens - Gestiès ( posted August 10th )

If anything these 5 Ariège days are even more remote - deserted villages and small towns in seemingly terminal decline ... very much the France of yesteryear. Peter's continued presence is a real bonus as is the arrival of another friend, Josiane, who shares these days of wild countryside walking with us. Pine forests, beech woods and waterfalls dominate with very occasional token efforts at tourist infrastructure in mini-ski resorts. The scenery is often breath-taking - we simply love this area!
