Photos - Days 36 - 40 Gestiès - Lac des Bouillouses ( posted August 10th )

A significant 5 days during which we take our leave of Peter and Josiane and, crucially, reach the watershed between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean climatic influence as we finally leave the Ariège on Day 40. For the first time we feel threatened by bad weather - thunderstorms on an exposed ridge on Day 36 that thankfully move south and very heavy rain on Day 39 crossing the Porteille des Bésines ... the only heavy rain we walk in for the whole trek! The scenery is truly magnificent, the trail quite challenging!
